College Admission Procedures in New Zealand

New Zealand's has based its education system on the British system.

It is popular and the students pursuing studies here grow every year. It has impressive institutions and progressively advanced education system. It requires a phased planning where the procedures must begin months in advance before the course commences.

Eligibility Criteria for Admissions 

If the student intends to study for more than 3 months a visa and student permit is mandatory. The deadline for university scholarships ends in April.

Undergraduate Studies

Admission to a university requires passing the 12th standard examinations under Indian School Certificate, Intermediate Certificate, Higher School Certificate, Higher Secondary Certificate or All India Senior School Certificate,

For Postgraduate Studies a qualification equivalent to the New Zealand Bachelor (Honors) Degree or 16 years of education is required. A degree from a leading university in India is sufficient for this. 

Academic Records

Undergraduate Studies

Full details covering the education history, including course subjects and grades are required for applying. Official records important for application are:

Mark sheet of Standard X and XII, 

A secondary school report and report cards of the final examinations, in original (or attested)

Postgraduate Studies 

Complete details of education, course subjects and grades, Copies or official records of your previous academic records are required. A few universities need copies of the first degree certificate as a proof of graduation. 

English Proficiency

IELTS, administered by the British Council, with a minimum score of 6.5 is compulsory and failing this the student must enter a bridge course in English of 3 to 9 months before the commencement of study.

Letters of Recommendation

A letter of recommendation given by someone who knows the student professionally and personally, for a fair time is needed. This must enlist positive and negative qualities, strengths and other relevant facts. This must mention the need, and utility of the study.

Statement of Purpose

Personal essays or statement of purpose, play a significant role in evaluating the application for admission. It gives a favorable impression of an individual. It covers the reasons for selecting a course, the suitability of education, relevant experience in the field, personal interests and career goals. 

There are Visa regulations to be followed while applying to avoid future problems.
